He was born in Netrakona, Bangladesh on 1st November,1945. He did his B.Sc.(Honours) and M.Sc. degrees in Chemistry in 1966 and 1967 respectively from the Department of Chemistry, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh . He started his teaching career as a lecturer in Chemistry on February 1968 in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, (BUET),. He became Assistant Professor ,Associate Professor and Professor in the years 1970, 1994 and 1999 respectively. His present research interests are Natural Product chemistry. One student obtained M.Phil. degree under his supervision and at present one(1) student is doing Ph.D. degree and four(4) students are doing M.Phil. degree under his supervision in natural product chemistry.
